This week I'm chatting with the inspiring Rachel Hollis, self-proclaimed book nerd and mother of three, who is also the founder of the popular lifestyle blog www.thechicsite.com and Los Angeles-based event-planning firm, Chic Events. At 27, she was named by Inc. Magazine as one of the “Top 30 Entrepreneurs under 30.” She has designed and produced fabulous parties for many of Hollywood’s elite. Hollis is also the author of the Amazon Bestselling women’s fiction series, “The Girls” published by Lake Union Publishing. The second book in the series, Sweet Girl was released in May 2015 and the third in the series, Smart Girl is slated for January 2016. In addition, Thomas Dunne Books will publish Rachel’s cookbook entitled Upscale Down Home in September 2016. Upscale Down Home is an irreverent collection of recipes for affordable meals presented so polished you'd never know their "lowbrow" origins.
In this episode we chat about Rachel's experience with self-publishing and how following her heart ultimately led her to achieving the traditional publishing deal she'd always hoped for. We also talk about social media and branding for authors and how Rachel manages being a multi-passionate entrepreneur.
